Uwazuruike Announces Election In Biafra Territories

Ralph Uwazuruike, the leader of Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has unveiled plans by the movement to elect its own government in the southeast and southsouth.
The MASSOB leader said that the polls will be held on February 22 in wards, provinces, districts, regions and zones of the southeast and southsouth.
Uwazuruike was speaking during the presentation of the 2016 Biafra budget at the Ojukwu Memorial library.
He said: “In line with our principle of non-violence towards establishing a sovereign control over the territorial boarders of the New Biafra, a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Aniebonam has been appointed the Chairman of Biafra Independent National Electoral Commission, (B-INEC).
“The Chairman, with other anointed men and women of God as members, will supervise the internal election into the offices of the new Biafra Government on February 22.”
“Our election will not be like Nigeria’s election, it will be a transparent one. In Biafra, there won’t be electoral fraud. The tenure of the elected Regional Governor or Minister would be four years and nine months. There shall be no second tenure.
“Once you are defeated, you won’t appeal in a tribunal against your opponent. This is why members of the commission would be men and women of God.”
Sunny Okereafor, MASSOB’s national director of information, added that the poll is in line with democratic ideals and international best practices, which Biafra was based on.
People supporting the independence of the Biafran territories in southeast Nigeria have staged protests demanding the release of their UK-based leader Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu, the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group and director of Radio Biafra, was arrested in Lagos in mid-October.

65-yr-old nabbed for allegedly impersonating Army General

LAGOS—A 65-year-old man is currently being investigated by operatives of X-Squad, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, for allegedly impersonating an Army General and defrauding victims in different part of the state.
The suspect, Imowo Bassey, also known as General Morgan, was caught after one of his victims, who had been on his trail, raised alarm at Fola Agoro in Shomolu area of Lagos.
It was learned that Bassey, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, used a fake identity card to impersonate General Morgan (Rtd) as National Security Co-coordinator, Southern Zone for the Presidency, Aso Rock Villa.
Vanguard gathered that the suspect, who was paraded as a criminal by the Akwa Ibom Police Command, had been detained several times at different divisional police stations, including Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon.
In his defense, Imowo Bassey said: “I do not have anything to say to you people. Are we judging the case here? If we are not, then there is nothing to say. There is no point giving my own side of the story, because there is no judge here. I have been here for three weeks.
“All I know is that I owe this boy (referring to the victim). I borrowed money from him to put my car in order, because I had an accident. He is not my friend, he is my customer. That is all.”

Justice Ahmed Mohammed in a ruling on the accused persons’ bail applications also ordered that they should deposit their passport with the court‎ pending the determination of their trial.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday arraigned Bello and his son, accusing them of collecting about N300m meant for procurement of arms for political campaigns but was received from the Office of the National Security Adviser under the guise of using it for “safe houses”.

EFCC arrests APC chieftain, Jafaru Isa for $2.1bn arms cash

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday night, arrested a former military Governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Brig-Gen. Lawal Jafaru Isa (reted).
Jafaru Isa
Brig-Gen. Lawal Jafaru Isa (retd)
Isa is the first APC chieftain to be arrested by the EFCC since the commencement of investigation into alleged diversion of $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase by officials of the immediate-past administration.
The erstwhile Military Administrator of Kaduna State from December 1993 to August 1996, during the military regime of General Sani Abacha and one-time governorship candidate of the defunct CPC in Kano State, is a close friend of the embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (reted).
Isa was arrested at his Abuja residence located at Ajayi Crowther Street, Asokoro.
Isa’s house was said to have been invaded by operatives of the EFCC around 9pm, and then whisked him away a few minutes later.
The retired brigadier general, was invited last week to appear before the commission on yesterday to clear the air on “some questionable receipts” from the former NSA.
Investigators believe the retired soldier received over N100million from Col. Dasuki.
It was gathered that rather than honoring the invitation, sources said, Gen. Isa wrote a letter to the EFCC through his lawyer, seeking a postponement of his appearance date on the grounds of death of a relative.
Apparently dissatisfied with his excuse, the EFCC however arrested him to clarify the “questionable receipts”.

Lassa fever kills 35, infects 76, says FG

The Federal Government has put the number of reported cases of Lassa Fever outbreak in eight states at 76 with 35 deaths already recorded and 14 cases confirmed by laboratories.
The government, which said measures had been put in place to curtail further spread and reduce mortality among those affected, however, ruled out placing travel restrictions from and to areas currently affected.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who stated this in a statement he issued on Wednesday in Abuja, in response to the outbreak of Lassa Fever in the country, added that “the World Health Organisation is being notified of the cases confirmed.”
According to him, Nigeria has been experiencing Lassa fever outbreak in the past six weeks in Bauchi, Nasarawa, Niger, Taraba, Kano, Rivers, Edo and Oyo states.
“The Nigerian government will continue to enhance its surveillance and social health education, information   and   communication   activities to prevent the disease   from spreading further in Nigeria and I wish to call for the support and understanding of Nigerians, “ the minister said.
He added, “The total number of suspected cases so far reported is 76 with 35 deaths, and a Case Fatality Rate of 46 per cent. Our laboratories have confirmed 14 cases, indicative of a new episode of Lassa fever outbreak.”
The first case of the current outbreak was reported from Bauchi State in November 2015, followed by cases reported by Kano State and subsequently the other six states.
Adewole added that in response to the reported outbreak, the Federal Government had taken some drastic measures to curtail further spread and reduce mortality.
The measures, he said, included immediate release of adequate quantities of ribavirin, the specific antiviral drug for Lassa Fever to all the affected states for prompt and adequate treatment of cases; and deployment of rapid response teams from the Federal Health Ministry to all the affected states to assist in investigating and verifying the cases and tracing of contacts.
The minister also said clinicians and relevant healthcare workers had been sensitised and mobilised in areas of patient management and care in the affected states, while
“affected states have been advised to intensify awareness creation on the signs and symptoms and general hygiene.”
“Furthermore, it is important to note that Nigeria has the capability to diagnose Lassa Fever and all the cases reported so far were confirmed by our laboratories. However, because the symptoms of Lassa Fever are so varied and non-specific, clinical diagnosis is often difficult, especially early in the course of the disease,” Adewole stressed.
The minister added that in view of the steps so far taken, he had directed that all health facilities in the country should emphasise routine infection prevention and control measures and ensure all patients were treated free.
He said, “Family members and healthcare workers are advised to always be careful to avoid contact with blood and body fluids while caring for sick persons. No travel restrictions will be imposed from and to areas currently affected.
“Healthcare workers seeing a patient suspected to have Lassa Fever should immediately contact the epidemiologist in the State Ministry of Health or call the Federal Ministry of Health using the following numbers: 08093810105,08163215251, 08031571667 and 08135050005.
While expressing gratitude to the WHO and other partners for their support so far, Adewole said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control “is already coordinating all our response activities and reporting to me on a daily basis.”
Lassa Fever is an acute febrile illness with bleeding and death in severe cases, caused by the Lassa Fever virus with an incubation period of six to 21 days.
About 80 per cent of human infections are asymptomatic, the remaining cases have severe multi-system disease, where the virus   affects   several   organs in the   body, such as the   liver, spleen and kidneys.
The onset of the disease is usually gradual, starting with fever, general weakness, and malaise followed by headache, sore throat, muscle pain, chest pain, nausea, vomiting,   diarrhoea, cough, and   bleeding   from   mouth,   nose,   vagina   or gastro-intestinal tract, and low blood pressure.
The reservoir or host of the Lassa virus is the “multi-mammate rat” called Mastomys natalensis which has many breasts and lives in the bush and peri-residential areas.

Lagos lawmaker urges residents to be cautious of Lassa fever

Lagos—Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Segun Olulade, has called on residents in the state to be cautious and report to the nearest hospital any symptoms of Lassa fever.

Olulade, who is the chairman house committee on health service, while reacting to the news from Taraba State, where the outbreak of Lassa fever has been confirmed, with one person dead and two others quarantined, advised Lagosians to look out for every symptoms of the disease and immediately report if any is discovered within the community.
Some of the symptoms according to the lawmaker include nasal bleeding, bleeding through the anus and mouth, adding that people usually get infected with the Lassa Virus after being exposed to infected rodents, while person to person transmission occurs through direct contact with the sick person.
Lassa fever is described as an acute viral haemorrhagic illness of one to four weeks duration that occurs in West Africa. Experts say it is transmitted to humans via contact with food or household items contaminated with rodent urine or fecal matter.

According to Etahoben, Boko Haram militants also launched an attack on Cameroonian army positions in Kerawa, a town which straddles the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
The current situation in Kerawa remains unclear.
The recent engagements are the latest in a series of battles between the Islamist terrorists and Cameroonian soldiers, who have been accused of killing civilians caught in the crossfire.
Just last month, Cameroonian army units crossed the border into Nigeria in pursuit of retreating Boko Haram militants.
After entering the village of Kirawa-Jimni, Borno state, the Cameroonians demanded to know where the fleeing terrorists had gone,

THE FAMILY OF IS NOT ASKING DAVIDO’S TO TAKE SOPHIA ABROAD…DELE MOMODU SPEAKS

The crisis currently brewing between singer, Davido’s family and media mogul, Dele Momodu.
Each and everyday, fans continue to wake up to read latest reports about the two families who are exchanging banters at each other on who should have custody of the baby Imade which brought the two families together in the first place.
The fight has now become a war of the rich (Davido) and the poor (Dele Momodu) as every day both parties are giving their own side to the whole drama with various allegations to accompany with it.
Dele Momodu, in a recent revelation made it clear that his cousin, Sophia, who is the mother of baby Imade, is not a drug addict as claimed by Davido but a means of trying to use false allegations to outrightly take the child away from the mother.
According to the Ovation Magazine boss, “The newspapers were awash this morning and the social media has been on fire since yesterday. My cousin SOPHIE MOMODU was comprehensively scandalised. Even a Laboratory result alleging she's a cannabis smoker was splashed everywhere.
She was said to have infected her own baby with cannabis. The vicious authors expected some gullible people to believe them. Nothing could have been cruellest. Our initial reaction was to maintain the ceasefire but this latest attack against a defenceless lady who merely asked that she be allowed to enjoy the fruit of motherhood was the limit of recklessness and rascality. All sensible human beings should abhor and condemn this unwarranted fabrication of endless lies just to justify the act of forcefully detaching a baby from her biological mother.
“Check this picture well. That's baby Imade with her aunt Ashley Adeleke who took her to Dubai a few months ago against her mother's consent. The world has been told that the baby was so sick that she needed urgent medical attention in Dubai. Imade's mother was deprived of attending personally to her own baby. Now wait for this; just imagine you're the helpless mum of Imade; instead of receiving regular medical briefs from Ashley the Good Samaritan, you receive pictures of your own baby swimming with Ashley Coco inside the heavenly pool of Atlantis, The Palm Dubai, one of the most luxurious resorts in the world while anxiety is killing you back home.
“Baby Imade has been forcefully separated from her mum since July 11!, 2015, when she was barely two months old. We've pleaded for months with the Adelekes to return the baby to her real mum. Sophie was allowed to visit her daughter once a week every Sunday inside Dr Adeleke's guest quarters. We did not fight. We did not engage in social media wars. They said our family was too poor and beneath their status. We did not mind. They said Sophie was a gold-digger, we did not respond. We only kicked when Baby Imade was to be taken out again without the mum's necessary consent. No one asked them to take Sophie along. We only tried to stop the impunity and dehumanisation of a poor mother. We acted within the ambit of the law. No more.”

HOW ALIKO DANGOTE SETTLED DONJAZZY, OLAMIDE FIGHT

It's no longer news that Olamide and Don Jazzy had settled the fight they kick started at the Headies Award over the winner of the next rated category which comes with a car.
The verbal war which was stirred on Live International TV, spilled over to Twitter and made a bloody mess.
However, after their settlement, their fans were so shocked and kept wondering what or who could have been instrumental to bringing peace back to the two CEOs.
It has been reported that one of Africa’s richest men, Aliko Dangote was the brain behind the reconciliation.
It was further squealed that the picture of Olamide & Don Jazzy shaking hands was taken at Aliko’s place and this happened after Olamide prostrated himself for Jazzy. All thanks to Dangote.
Although throughout the twitter outburst, DonJazzy and his crew never uttered a word, because he has been angry since the incident happened, especially because Olamide did something similar last year when Reekado Banks got the Headies 2014 Rookie award.
If you recall, the undisputed street King went on stage to receive his award at the 2014 Headies and while giving his speech for the “Best Rap Album of the year ”, he clearly stated his displeasure for the omission of his Label mate and protege “Lil Kesh” in the Rookie of the year Category, the category which was won by Mavin’s Reekado Banks.
Olamide took the mic said some stuff in Yoruba and then added “I dedicate this award to my nigga “Lil Kesh” for the Rookie of the year , Fuck that sh*t” and then returned the mic.

Then in the Headies of 2015, Olamide, also destroyed things back in Headies’ green room and also reportedly punched someone at the event.
Meanwhile, their reconciliation is a good step for the Nigerian music industry.

JIMMY JATT ON DON JAZZY, OLAMIDE FACE-OFF, 'THE HEADIES IS A TOTAL NONSENSE'

JIMMY JATT ON DON JAZZY, OLAMIDE FACE-OFF, 'THE HEADIES IS A TOTAL NONSENSE'

news

Jimmy Jatt is not just one of Nigeria’s topflight music enthusiasts and ward winning disc Jockey of international repute, the bespectacled music producer is worth more than qualified as a music critic based on his impressive track records in the industry. The highly respected disc jockey has reacted to the Don Jazzy, Olamide Headies brouhaha that has been the subject of controversy since yesterday, January 1st, 2016. Although, the needle groovier did not specifically dabble on the face-off between Don Jazzy and Olamide, he however aired his candid opinion on what he thinks might have gone wrong as regards the organisation of the much talked about awards’ project, The Headies.
In an open letter to music fans and organizers of the Headies, DJ Jimmy accused the organizers of the show, Hip TV and Ayo Animasaun of placing money over integrity in handing out awards.
Below is DJ Jimmy Jatt’s open letter:
“When I wrote my first open letter to Headies on December 29, 2013, the majority opinions I got was that I was correct while others felt I was just an “Attention seeker”. Headies as an award should be credible and not just over hyped. We have hundreds of award shows every year in Nigeria and they are not as controversial as this one. Headies as an award is still not appreciating certain artistes, producers, entertainers and DJs who work 24/7 to make sure they bring out the best. They give us the impression that once you are not nominated or you do not win, you have not started your career. This is a BIG LIE. Over the years, Ayo Animasaun and HipTV family have proven that it is Money over Integrity and that is why he always ignore the choices of majority of Nigerians or could it be that they innocently don’t even know what they are doing?
I am not here to analyse the faults of Headies in full but you can read the other complaints on twitter with the hashtag #TheHeadies2015.
Firstly, I noticed your hall was half empty. Your live broadcast that you always brag about had the picture quality of NTA Channel 10 and your technical crew were going offline every time things became awkward and they immediately have to switch to “lyrics on the go” to cover up your shame. I watched BET African awards live and MTV and I can see a very huge difference in all aspects. You still have a lot to learn. Another disturbing fact is that Headies as an award is creating bad blood among colleagues in the Nigerian music scene. Headies is the reason why we have not seen collaborations among certain musicians. Tell me why Phyno, Davido, Falz, Solidstar and many other music producers and artistes who have been topping charts this year were not recognized?
Next Rated
Now Of all the categories, this is the only one worth arguing over. Even though this is not a voting category, I stand by million of Nigerians to say that Lil Kesh or Kiss Daniel deserve the award. What are the reasons? Lil Kesh has more hit tracks, Swag, Stage performance, Composure and in the long run Lil Kesh may last longer for years to come. Infact, I will rather invest N10m on Lil Kesh career than Reekado’s. That is not to say Reekado is not hardworking or he does not have the talent but Lil Kesh has that special something. Infact Reekado still does not have any Hit track to date. Yes !!!!! I say that with all sense of authority. Songs like Corner, Sugar baby, Catapult are NOT hit tracks, they are just popular and they could have gone National but they are NOT hit tracks. Don’t confuse a popular song with a Hit track. Let me explain, As a DJ if I don’t play “Gbese” “Efejoku” “Shoki” “Reggae Blues” “Woju” “Laye” “Godwin” at any party, I will have loads of people coming to request for them but people don’t disturb me if I do not play Reekado Bank’s songs. Do you get the point? In fact another proof Reekado still does not own a hit track is that an average Nigerian parent who do not follow music still knows songs like “Woju” “Bobo”, “Ojuelegba” and “Efejoku”. While I was writing this, I played Reekado’s songs to the older generation and they claimed never to have heard them.
In conclusion
All Nigerian artistes and producers should not place their hope on the Headies which should now be referred to as “The Leggings”. Do not say your being not recognized means you are not trying, keep doing what you are doing and let the Headies keep on doing what they are known for – NONSENSE.. !!! Do not forget to send your insults and blessing to the writer @Baddestdjimmy and tell me exactly how you feel. I also need someone to clear this please, Don Jazzy said ” The organizers told him to call Reekado to come…So he left Alibaba’s show” Does that mean he knew Reeky was going to win that category? Cynthia Morgan was absent and I am sure the organisers did not tell Jude Okoye to tell Cynthia Morgan to rush down there.”
You be the judge !!!!
