Liverpool are ready to seal a £25m transfer deal for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, that's according to The Metro.
The Metro credit the Daily Express, who report that Vidal is being made available by the Italian champions, and Champions League finalists, and Liverpool are ready to bring him in as a long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard.
However the Express also report that Arsenal have beaten Liverpool to the punch and have now agreed terms for the Chilean midfielder. Vidal shares an agent with Alexis Sanchez, and that, say the Express, has swung the odds in the Gunners' favour.
The 27-year-old, along with Paul Pogba, has been a key player in Juventus' midfield as they won the Serie A and the Italian Cup and also knocked out Real Madrid to get to the Champions League final against Barcelona.
The Reds are also in the market for a centre forward and Brendan Rodgers has today been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid frontman Mario Mandzukic.
The 29-year-old has scored 12 goals in La Liga this term but it is reported that Atletico are already looking for replacements for the striker - ironically they have been linked with a another player also rumoured to be a target for Liverpool, Christian Benteke
