A new Nigerian airline company, Green Africa is set to kick off its operations in Nigeria as it sealed a deal with European plane company, AirBus.
The deal is for the procurement of 50 air is A220-300 planes which seats 130 - 145 passengers.
What's shocking is that each unit of this plane costs an approximate $91.5million.
Do the maths: 50 units is $4.575billion. This figure is almost half of Dangote's entire net worth.
Convert it to Naira with an exchange rate of 360 Naira to One dollar. The result will be 1.6 Trillion Naira.
If you're not amazed, I'll be shocked.
The Owner of Green Africa
The question is who owns this company that is investing so much in the Nigerian economy.
The first fact is that it's a Nigerian airline, but the difficult fact is who owns the company.
Well, I'll tell you. As opposed to rumours making rounds that the company is owned by Nigerian politicians, Green Africa is the brainchild of the silent Yoruba Billionaire, Babawande Afolabi.
He is the CEO of this great company which he founded in 2015.
Low-Key Billionaire
Babawande Afolabi is not as popular as Dangote and Adenuga, but he is certainly the man to watch in this new decade.
He is so low key that there are no recent pictures of him on the internet.
Kudos to our Yoruba brothers for having such a king in their midst. And kudos to all Nigerians for having such a visionary entrepreneur.
Hopefully, Nigeria's aviation sector will be improved.
